A skincare routine is essential for a beautiful, healthy skin that exudes alegria. Check out these tips for each skin type.

First of all, you should already know the expression skincare routine, but if you never heard it, we will explain: basically, it includes all those steps that you have to repeat daily, weekly and monthly for a great skin care.

But a skin care ritual goes a little further than the products you use: sleeping an adequate number of hours, drinking plenty of water, and having a healthy diet are also ways to keep your skin healthy. Likewise, not smoking, and protecting your skin from the cold are equally important.

What is your skin type?

There are many different skin types, but the main ones are as follows:

Normal Skin

A skin type is considered “normal” when it is neither dry nor oily, nor is it affected by problems such as rosacea or irritation. This type of skin is usually the easiest to care for, as the oil level is balanced. Even though it is a skin type that has less associated care, it still requires a routine to stay healthy.

Oily Skin

An oily skin is one that produces too much oil. This type of skin is easily identified by the presence of acne, black spots, very visible pores and that “glow” in the T zone (forehead, nose and chin).

Dry Skin

In a dry skin, the oil level is naturally low, which makes it easier to dehydrate, and even appear more brittle or rough. It is common for dry skin to have “skin scales” when using unsuitable products.

Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin is very susceptible to redness, various irritations, blemishes, small wounds, and inflammation. This type of skin needs more delicate care, with no-irritants components, aromas, color, etc.

Mixed Skin

Mixed skin is very common and, unfortunately, the most difficult to treat. Like personalities, no skin type is exactly the same, and mixed skin is just like that: it can have characteristics of dry and oily skin, in different ways in each person. Here, you may have to try various combinations until you find the perfect mix  – but, don’t worry, it exists!

Combined Skin

This is not exactly a skin type in itself, it is more of a mixture of types. The “combined” skin can be normal to oily, normal to mixed, normal to dry, dry and sensitive, or even oily and sensitive.

4 daily steps for a beautiful and cared skin!

Now that you know the main skin types, take note of the basic steps that cannot be missed in a skincare routine. There are four main ones:

  • Cleaning
  • Toning
  • Hydration
  • Protection

1º step: Cleaning

Cleaning your skin should be the first step in your routine, and the last one too (no sleeping with makeup!). To cleanse your skin, choose a gentle cleansing gel according to your skin type. Once cleaned, you should feel your skin fresh, refreshed and with softness. Otherwise, you are not using the right product for your skin type.

2º step: Toning

The toning step involves a tonic. This is the product that will help to balance your skin after cleansing, that is, it removes any residue from the previous product, and helps to restore the natural pH to your skin. There are tonics indicated for each skin type. For example, for oily skin, with very open pores, the ideal tonic is one that helps to close the pores to avoid the accumulation of residues and pollution present in the air. There are several options on the market for different type of skins, but micellar water is great!

3º step: Hydrate

Did you know that even oily skin types must be moisturized? If you didn’t know, now you know: all skins need daily care. However, of course, depending on your epidermis, you will have to choose the most suitable moisturizer for you. It can be one that has an anti-wrinkle function, is a mattifying moisturizer for oily skin, among others. The moisturizer can come in the form of a cream or be more liquid – it all depends a little on the care that your skin type requires.

Even in this step, you still have to take into account the eye contour. This very sensitive area of your face needs a specific, suitable product.

4º step: Protecting

Protect … Protect from what?, you ask. To start, protect from the sun! It is very important that you use sunscreen, and it is crucial to have one indicated for the face skin, which is more sensitive and exposed, daily, to UV rays.

Many moisturizing creams contain sun protection – but beware, only day creams protect from the sun. If you use moisturizer day and night, remember that night moisturizer does not protect against UV rays. Depending, again, on your skin type, you may need additional care – acne, rosacea, eczema, etc.

What weekly and monthly skin care should I have?

Weekly

An example of a product that should be used, but not daily, is the exfoliating. Most exfoliants should be used up to a maximum of 3 days a week, and never on consecutive days. Exfoliants help remove dead skin, dirt and oil. However, after using an exfoliator, the skin should be well hydrated because it will naturally be more exposed to aggression.

Monthly

If your skin type requires it, you can do a professional skin cleaning once a month – never more than that! However, note that certain skin cleansing methods can be too aggressive for sensitive skin. It is best to choose a trusted beauty salon and inform yourself in advance with a professional.

O resultado? Se seguires estes passos, de acordo com o teu tipo de pele, conseguirás uma tez iluminada, saudável, com um ar fresco, cheia de elasticidade e muito, muito feliz. Dá alegria à tua pele!

The result? If you follow these steps, respecting your skin type, you will achieve a bright and healthy skin. It’s going to look fresh, full of softness and very, very happy. Give your skin some Alegria!
